Oven Temperature Conversion Chart: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Fan and Gas Mark

Recipes from the US give oven temperatures in Fahrenheit, while European and Australian recipes use Celsius — and sometimes gas marks or fan-oven settings. This chart lines them all up.

| Very slow | 275 | 140 | 120 | 1 |
| Slow | 300 | 150 | 130 | 2 |
| Moderately slow | 325 | 160–170 | 140–150 | 3 |
| Moderate | 350 | 180 | 160 | 4 |
| Moderately hot | 375 | 190 | 170 | 5 |
| Hot | 400 | 200 | 180 | 6 |
| Hot | 425 | 220 | 200 | 7 |
| Very hot | 450 | 230 | 210 | 8 |
| Very hot | 475 | 240 | 220 | 9 |
Why recipes round the numbers
The exact conversion of 350 °F is 176.7 °C, but ovens are not that precise, so recipes round to 180 °C. Ovens commonly swing 10 °C either way while heating, so the rounding makes no real difference.
Fan (convection) ovens
A fan moves hot air around the food, so it cooks faster. Lower the temperature by about 20 °C (25 °F) from a conventional recipe, or keep the temperature and check the food earlier.
350 °F = 176.6667 °C
